General
No referral is required to see a Physiotherapist, if you are a private patient.
If you are seeking treatment for a work related injury or after a motor vehicle accident, you will require a Doctors referral to allow us to claim directly from your insurer. Likewise, if your Doctor has referred you to physiotherapy under an Enhanced Primary Care plan (EPC), we will require a copy of that specific referral to claim your treatment costs from Medicare.
If you are covered under the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA), we require a current referral from your doctor for Physiotherapy services.
Physiotherapy appointment costs can vary for a number of reasons, such as an Initial appointment versus a follow up. We also offer discounts for Pensioners. Our reception staff are very happy to discuss the costs specific to you, over the phone.
Treatment times vary depending on your type of condition and your individual requirements. Initial consultations generally take longer than the subsequent sessions as the Physiotherapist gets a full history of your case and performs a thorough initial assessment. On average, you can expect your session to last between 20-40 minutes.
Patients referred to Physiotherapy by their doctor under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan are eligible to claim a partial rebate for the cost of up to five allied health sessions per year from Medicare. You can ask your doctor about your eligibility, and we can process your Medicare claim for these appointments on the day.
Yes. If you have extras cover you are able to claim on the day using HICAPS and only pay the gap amount for your treatment. We recommend contacting your Health fund for details on your rebate amounts, and our reception staff can provide our codes if you require them.
Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal. Your Physiotherapist may request some clothing to be removed for your treatment, and they will provide towels and draping if you are comfortable to do so.
Physiotherapists can refer patients to private radiology clinics for a range of investigations including X-rays and MRIs. When referred by a Physiotherapist rather than a doctor, some scans may attract a higher cost, and your Physio will be able to provide you with information regarding your specific requirements.
